FallSeries2002

NOTICE OF RACE

NEW DATES! -- 10/5 & 10/6

EVENT
The EBYRA Fall Series consists of five scheduled races with spinnaker and non-spinnaker divisions, open to all PHRF sailing yachts. The organizing authority is the Eastchester Bay Yacht Racing Association (EBYRA).

RULES
The regatta will be governed by the United States Sailing Association, The Racing Rules of Sailing 2001-2004, the Notice of Race, and the Sailing Instructions. A yacht shall have a minimum crew of two people on board at all times.

ELIGIBILITY
The series is open to all sailing yachts, spinnaker and non-spinnaker, with a valid YRALIS PHRF certificate.

REGISTRATION
Application, certificate, and $65 entry ($60 for USSA members) must be received by October 2, 2002. Late applications must include a $10 late fee.

SCHEDULE AND
LOCATION
The races take place Saturday, October 5th and Sunday, October 6th, 2002. The first warning gun will be at 1020 each day.

COURSES
Courses will be signaled from the committee boat according to course codes in the Sailing Instructions.

THROWOUTS
Yachts will be scored on their best four races. If less than four races are started, then yachts will be scored on the number of races started. The number of races started shall constitute a series.

SCORING
Races will be scored using time-on-time based on factors derived from a yacht’s PHRF certificate
rating, using the formula F = 600/(480+PHRF). Series scoring will be done using the Cox-Sprague scoring system, as described in Yacht Race Scoring, by F. Gregg Bemis. Cumulative scores will be calculated to the third decimal place and ties will not be broken.

AWARDS
Final cumulative trophies will be awarded at the EBYRA Awards Dinner in December 2002. The EBYRA Fall Series is a qualifier for the YRALIS trophy set.

AMENDMENTS
Any additions or changes to the sailing instructions or scratch sheet will be posted in the four member clubs by 0900 on the day of a race, and are effective for that day’s race and all races thereafter.

ADMINISTRATION
Eastchester Bay Yacht Racing Association, Inc., P.O. Box 126, City Island, NY 10464. The organizing authority may establish themselves as members of the Race Committee and/or Protest Committee when necessary.
